Ms. Alma Scott of Fayette announces the engagement of her daughter, Valerie Scott Stewart to Thomas E. White Jr., son of Ms. Rachel White of Natchez and Thomas and Annie White of Fayette.

The bride-to-be is also the daughter of the late Theodore R. Shelvy of Fayette.

She is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Lorman and is employed by Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center in Fayette.

She is the granddaughter of Ms. Mary Shelvy and the late Willie Mae and Cornelius Scott, all of Fayette.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Natchez High School and attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez. He is employed by AMR Ambulance Service in Natchez.

He is the grandson of Bennie York of Fort Wayne, Ind., the late Annie Mae Smith, the late Bertha Smith and the late Henry Davis Sr.

The wedding will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Natchez.

A reception will follow at Broadmoor Community Center.
