CRYSTAL SPRINGS — Bernard Selmon’s two short touchdown runs in the second half proved to be critical as the Franklin County High School Bulldogs defeated the Crystal Springs High School Tigers 25-13 Friday night in an MHSAA Division 7-3A game.

Selmon finished with 122 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 32 carries. In addition to his 2-yard touchdown run late in the first half, he also had a 3-yard TD run with 4:26 to go in the third quarter for a 19-6 Bulldogs lead and his 1-yard scoring run with 2:00 left in the game gave them a 12-point led.

De’Martre Collins didn’t have the best game throwing the ball, going 3-for-11 for 32 yards, but he did have a 23-yard touchdown run and Trinity Coleman’s extra point with 6:27 remaining in the first half gave Franklin County a lead it would not relinquish.

Jeriko Morris provided most of Crystal Springs’ offense — 20 carries for 87 yards, 2-for-8 passing for 14 yards with one interception, and four catches for 57 yards. Unfortunately for the Tigers, it was their passing game that let them down.

Going with three quarterbacks, the Tigers ended up completing 7 of 19 passes for 101 yards and had five interceptions. Michael White alone picked off three of those passes Danzel Allen had one interception to go with 10 tackles and one sack and Gerryion Bell had an interception.

DeAnthony King led the Bulldogs’ defense in tackles with 16 and Chris O’Quinn racked up 14 tackles.

Franklin County (5-3, 3-0) can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Wesson, which the Bulldogs play host to at 7 p.m. Friday.
