NATCHEZ — Services for Will “Hank” Washington Jr., 78, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Doug Logan officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Washington was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Sibley, the son of Will and Alice Rounds Washington.
He was a retired custodian for Concordia Parish School Board.
Mr. Washington also served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Holmes; five sisters, Winnie Reynolds, St. Arby Thompson, Naomi Daily, Dinah Ealey and Mary Alice Pettis; and one brother-in-law, Maurice Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Williams Washington; three sons, Christopher Washington and wife, Blanca, of Dallas, Levander Holmes and John Holmes, both of Natchez; two daughters, Vera Smoot of Natchez and Grace Rejouis of Vidalia; two brothers, Elijah Washington and wife, Lucinda, of Chicago and Chester Washington and wife, Alice, of Sibley; two sisters, Bertha Green of Natchez and Dorothy Thompson and husband, Joseph, of Sibley; two brothers-in-law, Robert E. Williams and wife, Trudy, of Vidalia and James Thompson of Sibley; two sisters-in-law, Alma D. Williams of Las Vegas and Bernadine Leroy and husband, Leon, of Miami; three grandchildren, Breann Holmes of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Kristina and Jessica Washington, both of Dallas; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
