FERRIDAY — Services for Cleveland Payne Jr., 91, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the Veterans Hospital in Alexandria, La., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Theodore Walker officiating.

Burial will be Monday, Oct., 13, 2014, at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Payne was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Natchez, the son of Cleveland and Irene Turner Payne.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945.

He was a member of the Pride of Concordia No. 160 Masonic Lodge Worshipful Master, American Legion No. 536 and a deacon and recording secretary at Mount Olive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Payne; his parents; two sons, Ronald and Donald Payne; and two brothers, Freddie Baker and Eddie Baker.

Survivors include two sons, Cleveland Payne and wife, Sally, of Hammond, Ind., and Edward Payne and wife, Marquita, of Newnan, Ga.; two daughters, Helen Payne of Ferriday and Patsy Autmon and husband, Jimmie, of Killeen, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
