Adams County Christian School is ready to take the field Friday night, especially with their opponent being Glenbrook.

Glenbrook is a familiar foe and the Apaches ended the Rebels’ season last year with a 30-21 win in the playoffs.

“I’m an old man and can’t even get down in a three-point stance, and I want to play in this one after last year,” said ACCS head coach David King. “We’ve been excited about this since the end of last season.”

King noted the Apaches have a strong offense led by their quarterback.

“They are athletic,” he said. “And they throw the ball around pretty well. I think they have the athletes capable of playing with us.”

Defensively, King said Glenbrook is one of the better defenses he has played against and expects them to be aggressive.

ACCS’ game last Friday was cancelled, and the Rebels (5-1) were awarded a win due to a tragedy at Prentiss Christian, while the Apaches of Glenbrook (3-3) took down Acadiana Home School, 44-22.

“That is part of high school ball and life,” King said of the Rebels’ contest last week. “You have to adjust. Our boys are focused and ready to play. We threw the game film in and saw Glenbrook, and they are pretty good.”

As for his overall feeling, King is expecting a good game.

“This is a playoff caliber team,” he said. “We know they are capable of being a good ball club. We’ve been playing well and I just hope that the week off doesn’t hurt us.”
