NATCHEZ — Following a tragedy involving a former student, Prentiss Christian has forfeited its scheduled district game against Adams County Christian School.
Because the game had implications in playoff seeding regarding power points, ACCS head coach David King said Prentiss Christian decided it was best to forfeit the game Sunday afternoon. MAIS AA went to the power point system two years ago.
“They had a tragedy happen that hit home with the coaches and the students, and they weren’t emotionally ready to play the game,” King said. “They understood that cancelling the game would hurt our ball team. So they decided to forfeit and give us those power points. We certainly would have liked to have played instead.”
King said he didn’t have to lobby in any way for the win and that Prentiss Christian did everything it could to make the best out of a horrible situation.
“Their headmaster and I are good friends, so this was a very tough situation,” King said. “Our prayers remain with the school.”
With the forfeit, ACCS improves to 5-1 and 1-0 in district.
