Yvette Demby of Clayton and Leroy Brown Jr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Lavette Brown to Anthony Dale Cook, son of Carolyn Mammano of Cedar Key, Fla., and Johnny Cook.

The bride-to-be is an honor graduate of Ferriday High School. She received an associate degree from Hinds Community College, graduating cum laude. She also attended Louisiana Tech University where she graduated top of her class and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.

She is employed as a paralegal for the State of Louisiana.

She is the granddaughter of the late Rosa Goodin Demby and Melvin James Demby Sr. of Vidalia.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Cedar Key High School. He received an associate degree from Central Texas College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Upper Iowa University, graduating cum laude.

After 10 years in the U.S. Army including service in Iraq, he is employed by Exxon Mobil Corporation as an operator.

He is the grandson of Margaret Fine of Cedar Key and the late Nathan Fine.

The wedding will be Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Hemingbough in St. Francisville, La.
