Natchez — The Mississippi State Society of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution had their annual Rosalie Day, Tuesday, Oct. 26.
This event celebrates the anniversary of the purchase of Rosalie by the MSSDAR in 1938. Because of inclement weather, this year’s meeting was at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church instead of the gardens of Rosalie.
During the event, chapters had the opportunity to donate much-needed time to Rosalie to help with the day-to-day operations of the house.
DAR members from throughout the state attended the meeting. The Natchez Chapter, the oldest chapter in the state, was named the chapter with the highest attendance at the meeting. Speical recognition was given to Mary Louise Netterville Shields, the state’s oldest DAR member.
