NATCHEZ — More than 500 Harley Davidson riders will take over the Miss-Lou this weekend.

If weather forecasters are correct, they will have a pleasant weekend for riding. Forecasts call for highs in the neighborhood of 89 to 90 degrees with a good amount of sunshine and little chance of precipitation.

H.O.G. Rally

The Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) is the largest factory-sponsored motorcycle organization in the world, boasting nearly a million members around the globe.

Natchez will host the Mississippi State Hog Rally today through Saturday with most events at the Natchez Convention Center on Canal Street.

Natchez band Rayzer will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday on Broadway Street near the Grand Hotel.

Saturday, a bike show will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the convention center followed by a parade featuring all riders at 5 p.m. Both events are open to the public.

A closing ceremony will be hosted at 7 p.m. Saturday followed by more live entertainment at 8 p.m.

Bark in the Park

The annual fall fundraising event for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will take place this Saturday.

Bark in the Park will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians. The first contest will take place at 11:30 a.m.

Dog owners are welcome to attend — whether to watch or enter their pets in a number of dog-show categories.

Kittens will also be up for adoption at the event.

“You can purchase two kittens for the price of $35, which includes spaying and neutering,” NACHS member Marie Gasquet said. “The NACHS is mostly supported by donations, making the Bark in the Park event our most important fundraiser of the year.”

Each contest has an entry fee of $2.

Admission to the event is $5 for adults and $1 for children.

All proceeds go to the NACHS’s animal shelter.

Cathedral Pink Wave 5K

Cathedral’s Pink Wave Project is a non-profit fundraiser to help fund the fight against cancer.

The project will host its first pink wave 5k walk/run and 1-mile fun run Saturday with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the corner of Main and Broadway streets.

“I think this 5k run is extremely important because it gets us out in the community,” Kappi Rushing said. “Anything that you do grows from year to year and this year the biggest thing we added was the 5k run.”

As of Tuesday, 80 people had already signed up for the 5k run.

Registration forms are available at cathedralgreenwave.com

Mississippi English Motoring Club’s British car show

Mississippi’s English Motoring Club will host a British car show at the Natchez City Park on Broadway adjacent to the mansion “Rosalie” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

More than 60 examples of vintage British vehicles are expected to be on display.

The show is free and open to the public.

Friday Forum

This week’s discussions at the weekly Natchez-Adams Chamber of Commerce forum will include information about the Miss-Lou Tribute to Freedom Memorial and the Natchez Tricentennial.

The weekly forum begins at 8 a.m. at the Natchez Coffee Company and is open to the public.
