BAKER, La. — Adams County Christian School picked up early Saturday afternoon on the road where it left off Friday night at Bobby Marks Stadium as it continued to put points on the board and left Central Private School with a 52-6 victory.

The battle of the Rebels was first delayed by lightning with 3:48 to go in the first quarter with ACCS holding a commanding 26-0 lead over Central Private and then postponed until noon Saturday because the inclement weather would not go away soon enough.

Even with the game being played on the field at Central Private, ACCS was still the home team because the game started on its field on what was supposed to have been Military Appreciation Night.

And the Rebels from Natchez had no letdown whatsoever. Late in the first quarter, quarterback Carlos Woods threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Parker Rymer to give ACCS a 32-0 lead.

Woods ended up completing 12 of 15 passes for 204 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

In fact, ACCS did not turn the ball over once and did not even have to punt the ball any.

Then it was the defense’s turn to get in on the scoring. With Central Private in position to get on the board, Woods picked off a pass at the ACCS 1-yard line and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was good for a 39-0 advantage.

Chisum Mardis scored on a 24-yard run later on in the second quarter and the point after again was good and ACCS went into halftime with a 46-0 lead.

Once again, the defense came up big as Jordan Smith recovered a Central Private fumble and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown and a 52-0 ACCS lead.

The Rebels from Baker, La., were able to avoid being shut out when they scored their only touchdown in the fourth quarter. The extra point was good.

Torrey Smith was ACCS’s leading rusher for the game with 70 yards on five carries and Trey Fleming was the team’s leading receiver with three catches for 75 yards.

ACCS picked up 16 first downs and finished with 384 yards of total offense. Central Private (1-3) moved the ball better on Saturday on its own field than it did at ACCS on Friday night, but turnovers did not help out at all.

ACCS (3-1) will have its hands full Friday night when it travels to Wildcat Field on the campus of Louisiana College in Pineville, La. to take on University Academy of Cenla, one of the top teams in MAIS Class A.

Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. University Academy shut out Glenbrook School 24-0 last Thursday night to improve to 4-0.
