Rebels ready for Centreville

If Adams County Christian School wants to become a powerhouse, they are going to have to take one down.
The Rebels have that opportunity Friday when they hit the road to take on the No. 1 team in MAIS AA, Centreville.
“It is a fine task to have to do it on the road,” said ACCS coach David King of taking down the storied Tigers. “We’ve got to earn the right to be in the same realm with them.”
But ACCS could be well on their way, starting the year 2-0 and entering Friday off a 51-21 win against River Oaks. However, King knows what Centreville will bring to the table.
“Centreville is up seven when they get off the bus because of their tradition,” he said. “That is what I’m trying to bring here. Those boys, they don’t think they can lose, and that is a big part of high school athletics. That is what I’m trying to bring to ACCS and it takes a win like this.”
Centreville has been crushing opponents this season, putting up 49 points in week one and 51 last week.
“What worries me about them is those kids want to play every snap,” King said. “They are fast and always great up front. They always have the best line in our league and this year is no different.”
And when King took a closer look, he said he could hardly find any weaknesses in Centreville.
“It is going to come down to who has the willpower to play four quarters of big boy football,” he said. “It is two good athletic teams going at it, one very rich in tradition and one trying to build a tradition. It is going to be a fun game.”
King recognizes how big this game is for the season, but wants to keep things in perspective for the team.
“I’ve coached in many big games,” King said. “But I’m dealing with a group of kids that are trying to learn how to play in these big games. Playing Centreville is simply about manhood. The men stay around, and the boys won’t be ready for a big game like this.”
