NATCHEZ — One person is dead following a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 84 East in Adams County.
The wreck occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. about one-half mile west of Old Highway 84 No. 1 in Fenwick, Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Rusty Boyd said.
Adams County Coroner James Lee identified the victim as Havie L. Ainsworth, 58, of 10 Rainbow St.
Boyd said the 2001 Dodge truck driven by Ainsworth, was traveling in the left lane and apparently veered into the right lane, striking the left rear side of the second vehicle.
The second vehicle was a 2009 Chevrolet truck driven by Brandon Blaney, 27, of Tickfaw, La.
Blaney’s vehicle traveled into the median and came to a stop there. Blaney was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the wreck, Boyd said.
Ainsworth’s vehicle struck a concrete culvert in the median, which caused the truck to flip several times before coming to rest in the westbound lanes of U.S. 84.
Ainsworth was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Boyd said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Boyd said alcohol was not involved in the wreck.
