BOGUE CHITTO — Services for Frederick Robert Blakeney, 79, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, Riverland Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto with the Rev. Larry Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Blakeney was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Little Rock, Ark., the son of Thomas and Rene Blakeney.
He was retired from Union Pacific after 43 years of service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Blakeney; and twin brother, Charles Blakeney.
Survivors include his wife, Bennie Louise Blakeney; two sons, Ira Eugene Hall and wife, Jennifer, of McComb and Kevin Ray Hall and wife, Kesha, of Monterey; one brother, Ben Blakeney of Arkansas; four granddaughters, Ashley Hall, Heather Hall, Hazelee Hall and Elizabeth Sibley; three grandsons, Braxton Hall, Fisher Hall and Jenson Fortenberry; one great-grandson, Mason Martin; two nieces, Jan Peters of Bossier City, La., and Barbara Blakeney; and a number of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ben Williams, Eric Williams, James Hall, Andy McCaa, Rex Cothren and Hugh Mathis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Peters and Wesley Hall.
