FERRIDAY — A Wildsville teenager who escaped law enforcement officers Friday after threatening his teacher was arrested Monday.
Kelante’ Z. Russ, 17, 141 Bowie Road, was arrested and charged with simple escape, simple assault on a schoolteacher and possession of marijuana.
Russ attends the Concordia Education Center, which is the alternative school program in the parish, where he and two of his classmates were allegedly threatening a new teacher, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Lee Ford said.
Ford works as a resource officer at various schools in the parish and said a teacher who was starting her first year at the alternative program approached him about the group of students threatening her.
“They were saying some really awful and terrible things,” Ford said. “They continued harassing her to the point where she was scared for her life and wanted to leave the area.”
Ford went to the school Friday to arrest Russ and the two other students, who are both juveniles and weren’t charged as adults.
Ford handcuffed the students and walked them to a room in the school preparing to take them to the Concordia Parish Jail.
“(Russ) must be double jointed or something, because all of a sudden I saw that boy come out of those cuffs and break for the door,” Ford said. “He ran away from the school, and we weren’t able to catch him until (Monday).”
Ford got warrants to arrest Russ on the simple escape and assault charges on a schoolteacher charges Monday.
When CPSO deputies found Russ Monday morning at an acquaintance’s house in Wildsville, the deputies also found a small amount of marijuana in his possession. Russ remained in the Concordia Parish Jail as of Monday evening with no bond set.
