We hope your Thanksgiving week was full of family, friends, food or at least a relaxing activity of your choice.

A bit of down time, for those of you who got it, was probably a good idea. December is a busy month for just about everyone. The hustle and bustle kicked off early in Natchez.

Let’s review a few of the great things that happened in our community last week.

– The official Christmas in Natchez campaign kicked off with the lighting of the downtown tree. Several hundred people gathered to enjoy the entertainment, show and fellowship with neighbors.

– Festivities continued Saturday with the first Turkey Trot 5K run/walk. A good crowd got in a good run. Later that day, the lights were turned on a Longwood during a gala celebration. The mansion will stay lit for tours until January.

– Residents in Natchez and Vidalia came together for their annual Thanksgiving services. We are so glad our community takes time out to truly count the blessings that matter.

– Volunteers descended upon the Stewpot Thursday to help serve meals to those less fortunate. A large crowd had a great meal, served with a smile.

With December only a few days away, it takes just a minute with a young child to know the best holiday of the year is coming. Enjoy the lights, fun and happiest time of the year.
