NATCHEZ — The teen charged with the manslaughter of his younger brother remains in the Adams County Jail with no bond.
Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said a bond for Preston Bostick, 18, 73-A Pinemount Road, will likely be set today.
Preston was arrested Sunday night after confessing he accidentally fired a fatal shot into the head of his brother, Juwayni Bostick, 13, inside their home.
Mayfield said he believes Preston Bostick has not received a bond as of Monday because the investigation is still pending.
Mayfield said deputies are currently investigating the origin of the 9 mm handgun involved in the incident and how it landed in Bostick’s possession.
The investigation has led Mayfield to believe the gun was stolen from a local pawnshop, he said. “It looks like (someone) tried to obliterate the serial number,” Mayfield said.
