NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Melva Anita Parvin Walker Oliver, 84, of Natchez, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Natchez City Cemetery.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Oliver was born Jan. 29, 1930, the daughter of Ruben and Era Parvin.
Mrs. Oliver was a kind, sweet and genteel southern lady.
May she know the peace and love of Jesus in Heaven after suffering from illness for so long.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh Oliver; one sister, Mary Williams; three brothers, Reuben “Bud,” Dallas and John Gary Parvin; one son, John R. Walker; and one great-grandson, Brae Allen Walker.
Survivors include three brothers, Willie “Bill,” Larry and Lonnie Parvin; five sisters, Betty Legg, Lea Thrash, Rita Haik, Dee McDermott and Donna Bixbe; two sons, Prentice Walker and Richard Oliver; four grandsons, Prentice Matthew, Ryan, Jonathan and John “Jack” Walker; three great-grandsons, Caden, Lucas and Andrew Walker; and one great-granddaughter, Carolynn Walker.
