Jonesville toddler dies in vehicle crash

JENA, La. — A two-vehicle crash involving a Jonesville man Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a toddler and injuries to four other people.

Adam William Grant, 28, of Jonesville, was driving his 1974 Ford pickup northbound on Louisiana 127 in LaSalle Parish when he crossed the center line and collided with 24-year-old Kyle Levi Hartfield of Jena.

Hartfield was driving his 2005 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Louisiana 127.

Grant was seriously injured and transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

His son, Gerald Andrew “Drew” Grant, 1, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hartfield received minor injuries but refused medical attention.

Two other passengers were in Grant’s vehicle, Wendy Blasingame, 23, of Jena, and a 4-month-old from Jena.

Blasingame received minor injuries and the 4-month-old received moderate injuries, and they were both transported to LaSalle General.

Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending as the crash remains under investigation.

Drew Grant is also the son of Amanda Laniece Grant.
