NATCHEZ — Adams County Board of Supervisor Attorney Scott Slover said Thursday he took full responsibility for a possible violation of executive session law earlier this week.

The board entered into executive session Monday to interview four nominees for a seat on the Natchez-Adams School District’s board of trustees.

Slover said Monday the executive session was justified under the personnel provision in the law.

Thursday, Slover said he spoke with Ethics Commissioner Tom Hood who told him the matter was not fully set out in law, but probably was a violation.

“Obviously, the Board of Supervisors were poorly advised in this matter by myself, and I take full responsibility,” Slover said in an email. “The Supervisors will not go into executive session for this reason again.”

Slover said he was also sending for an official opinion from the Mississippi Attorney General, but expected to be told that it was inappropriate.
