It might have been easy to get caught up watching politics at City Hall last week, but in the meantime plenty of good news was happening all around us.

Let’s review a few of the great things that happened in the Miss-Lou last week:

Ticket sales for Fall Pilgrimage are up significantly, and organizers hope to see a great fall tourism season when it’s all said and done.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College broke ground on a new health sciences building Thursday. The campus addition will allow the college to spread out cramped classes and offer more programs in the future. Growth for Co-Lin is growth for all of us and we are happy to turn some dirt along with the school.

Cathedral was busy last week and this weekend with the annual Fall Festival. The well-organized fundraiser has become a great community event that makes us proud to have friends like the Green Wave.

Trinity Episcopal Day School senior Jheri Dupré Ogden is the area’s second National Merit Semifinalist in two years. This honor — based on PSAT scores — is one of the top honors available to high school students. Ogden has been a standout at school for years, and we know she has a bright future ahead of her. Congratulations Jheri.

The Natchez Fire Department spent Saturday educating the public about fire safety and gearing up for National Fire Prevention week this Week. Thanks go to our firemen who protect us in an emergency, but also try to prepare us before tragedy happens.

October is a busy, busy month in the Miss-Lou. With balloon race right around the corner, we are excited about the days to come.
