NATCHEZ — Dispatchers at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of rape just after 2 a.m. Saturday from Pinemount Road.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Monday night investigators have targeted a suspect, but the investigation is still under way and no arrests have been made.

He said his office has not yet determined if rape actually occurred or if rape charges will be filed.

He said the incident involved a home invasion and some type of assault, but not necessarily rape.

Although a press release from sheriff’s office dispatch reports included two reports of rape on Pinemount Road at 2:03 a.m. and 2:41 a.m., Mayfield said the two calls were made in reference to a single incident, possibly from two locations.
