NATCHEZ — Services for Hayes Roderick Harris III, 68, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Harris was born Nov. 14, 1945, in Adams County, the son of Hayes Roderick II and Sarah Ruby White Harris.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Cary Clifford Harris.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Harris; his mother; two sons, Roderick Hayes Thomas, and Hayes Roderick Harris IV; two daughters, Denise Renee Credit and husband, Charles, and Shanette Denia Harris; eight grandchildren, Dezanique Credit, Charles Credit Jr., Joshua Credit, Nya Credit, Zora Thomas, Kyria Harris, Kortlin Harris and Trinity Credit; one godson, Aronte Patten and wife, Natasha; three brothers, James Monroe Harris, Keith Andrew Harris and David Anthony Harris; and four sisters, Ruth Hazel Bailey and husband, John, Cheryl Jean Brinkley and husband, Henry, Susan Gwendolyn Harris and Lorna Lorraine Anderson; and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
