FERRIDAY — Police are looking for the man they suspect is responsible for a Sunday morning shooting in Ferriday.
Ferriday Police Assistant Chief Johnny Evans said at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday officers responded to a shooting on Morning Star Alley and found Demetrius Jackson at his residence with one gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Evans said investigators have already identified who they believe is the shooter and expect to make an arrest soon.
“We already know the suspect and are getting the warrant signed right now,” Evans said.
Evans said the shooting happened after the victim attempted to make the suspect leave his residence.
“(Witnesses) said the suspect was highly intoxicated when he came over there,” Evans said. “He had been there earlier, came back again that morning and was highly intoxicated and wanting to argue.”
Evans said Jackson told the suspect to leave and that is when the shooting occurred.
There were three witnesses at the house, and Evans said they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
Jackson was transported to Riverland Medical Center and later airlifted to Alexandria. Evans said he expects Jackson to recover fully.
