NATCHEZ — The night sky over the Mississippi River will be lit with red, white and blue, as well as many other colors, Friday night during the annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

The show, hosted by the First Natchez Radio Group, will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m., and exhibit explosions of color for approximately 20 minutes.

René Adams of the First Natchez Radio Group said she enjoys what shows like the one in Natchez do for the community.

“It is a magnificent community event,” Adams said. “When you have all these people of every different denomination together, it’s amazing.”

The show will be professional grade shot from a barge in the middle of the Mississippi River, meaning big explosions that can be seen for miles, Adams said.

Sheri Rabb, marketing director of the city of Vidalia, said the fireworks will be visible to both Natchez and Vidalia.

“(The fireworks) will be shot from the middle of the river this year,” Rabb said. “That way you can see it from both sides.”

Attendance is encouraged on both sides of the river.

“Bring your lawn chair and mosquito spray and come on over,” Rabb said.
