VIDALIA — A Vidalia man is in the hospital after being stabbed by his girlfriend Tuesday after an argument.
Natasha Pierce, 18, 509 South Spruce St., was arrested Wednesday on the charge of attempted second-degree murder after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Quincy Hawkins of Vidalia.
Vidalia Police Department investigator Terry Thames said that while the couple was arguing, Pierce somehow managed to arm herself with a knife.
Pierce then proceeded to stab Hawkins halfway through the top left hand side of the chest, a couple of inches away from the collarbone.
Thames said the knife penetrated Hawkins’ chest at a downward angle and pierced his left lung.
Hawkins was transported to Natchez Regional Hospital where he was treated for his wound.
Thames said Hawkins is currently in the ICU in stable condition.
Thames said the VPD is still investigating the case to try and find what might have caused Pierce to reportedly stab her boyfriend.
“(Pierce) never told us anything that happened,” Thames said. “She told us she does not remember what happened that evening.”
Pierce is currently in custody at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
