Weekend ticket: Indoor events highlight stormy weekend ahead

NATCHEZ — A variety of indoor events are slated for the upcoming weekend to keep Miss-Lou residents safe and dry from expected storms.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected starting today and are forecast to continue throughout the weekend with temperatures reaching the low 90s Saturday.
Mixology class
Learn how to make the perfect cocktails at 4 p.m. Friday at King’s Tavern.
A mixology class will be hosted from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Tavern, located at 619 Jefferson St.
Participants will learn how to make proper cocktails. The lesson includes a tasting of up to four cocktails and food bites.
The secrets to making the perfect old fashion, a daiquiri, a Singapore sling and a side car will all be covered.
The class costs $35 to attend.
Camera class
The Natchez Art Association will host a camera discovery class from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. today at 118 N. Pearl St., No. 105.
Participants are encouraged to bring their digital cameras to learn some of its features and abilities.
Carolyn Weir, local artist and member of the association, said the class would be a great step for those unfamiliar with the technical details of their cameras.
“The class is a really good introduction to a camera,” Weir said. “We’ll go over all the basic functions found on digital cameras.”
The class costs $5 to attend.

Movie night
As part of its adult summer library program, the Judge George W. Armstrong Library will host the movie “Gravity” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today.
Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
The event is free and open to the public.
Kitten adoption day
The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will host a kitten and cat adoption day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Mall near the theater entrance, Stine Lumber on U.S. 61 South and Tractor Supply Co. on U.S. 61 North.
The price to adopt one or two kittens is $35, which includes spaying or neutering.
