Advanced Sports Braves split games in Florida

NATCHEZ — The Advanced Sports Braves baseball team went 1-1 in its first day at the Grand Slam World Series in Panama City Beach, Fla., Wednesday.
The Braves dropped game one to the Elite Gamers 4-3. Cody Brown was 1-for-2 at the plate with 2 RBI’s and Peyton Fort was 1-for-1 with a double.
Caleb Smith was the losing pitcher with three strikeouts in two innings pitched.
But the Braves bounced back to top North Gwinet Red 9-7 in the second game.
Brown was the winning pitcher and Alec Sparks closed out the game.
Braves head coach Shaun McDonald said Brett Walsworth, Rhet McDonald, Peyton Fort, Caleb Smith and Matt Petty were all hot at the plate.
“We got up 8-0 after two innings then we ended up letting Red back into the game,” he said. “But overall, both games were really solid games for our pitchers and catchers.”
The Braves will play the Buford, Ga. Wolves at 10:05 a.m. today.
