NATCHEZ — The City of Natchez is looking for a few good photographers to help decorate the city’s new website set to launch in the fall.

The city is asking residents to submit photographs of Natchez to be used on the website, cityofnatchez.net.

“We want to keep the community involved in the website,” Information Technologies Director Ed Bowser said. “We feel like we don’t need to hire someone to take photographs. We think we can get a number of photos from people in the community to design the website with, so people can really get an idea of Natchez and its flavor.”

Bowser asked that residents submit old and new photographs of Natchez and its landmarks.

“I think that would be a neat display on the website, a now and then sort of look at the city,” he said.

The new website is set to launch Nov. 13, but Bowser anticipates it will be sooner than that.

The website will have several capabilities Bowser said he hopes residents and visitors find useful.

The website will include an online payment center for bills, bid postings, city documents, job postings, online job applications, news alerts, a staff director, photo galleries and other features.

City departments will also have sections of the website to provide relevant information to residents.

The city has budgeted $50,000 to update the website.

Photo submissions for the website are due July 9.

Residents can email photos to webphotos@natchez.ms.us.

Bowser said the city’s IT staff can meet residents to assist in determining a file transfer method.

The IT department can be reached by calling 601-445-7500 and dialing extensions 1230 or 1231 or by email at infotech@natchez.ms.us.
