NATCHEZ — Services for Jerry Marshall Ratliff, 77, of Natchez, who died Monday, June 2, 2014, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pentecostals of the Miss Lou with the Rev. Gary Howington and the Rev. Jeremy Howington officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from noon until service time Thursday both at the church.
Mr. Ratliff was born March 5, 1937, in Tylertown, to Marshall and Ouida Terrell Ratliff.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was the owner and operator of Ratliff Big Star Supermarket, J.R. Supermarket and Fayette Supermarket.
He loved his family and enjoyed traveling. He had a big heart for his customers and his employees.
Mr. Ratliff was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilson Ratliff and June Terrell; and one sister, Melonee Ratliff Harvey.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Joy Ratliff; two sons, Michael Lee Ratliff and wife, Vicky, of Natchez, and Jon Eric Ratliff and wife, Melissa, of Pineville; one daughter, Joyce Mechelle Ratliff Seale and husband, James, of Vidalia; seven grandchildren, twins Jessica and Jennifer Ratliff, Aaron Ratliff and wife, Casey, SPC Jeremy Seale and wife, Vaimalu, Kevin Seale, Lauren Ratliff and Joseph Ratliff; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ira Ratliff of Jayess, and Barry Terrell of Natchez; one sister, Peggy Ratliff Peavey of Bella Vista, Ark.; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Ratliff, Kevin Seale, Bubba Cockerham, David Nations, James Burchfield and Brandon Vickers.
Honorary pallbearers will be SPC Jeremy Seale, Joseph Ratliff and Gary Nations.
