NATCHEZ —Services for Leonard Ford Sr., 82, of Natchez, who died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a “Celebration of Life” Wake Service at 6 p.m. today, both at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Ford was born March 10, 1932, in Natchez, the son of Edgar Ford and Luvicia Davenport Ford.
He was a retired building contractor. He was a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Church Hill and served as a director on the Natchez Housing Authority board for many years.
He enjoyed church and family gatherings.
Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ernest L. Ford.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Mary Jane Ford; two sons, Leonard “June” Ford Jr. and wife, Ann, and Bobby Earl Ford and wife, Denise, all of Natchez; one daughter, Betty Washington and husband, Keith, of Sugarland, Texas; one sister, Lillian Williams; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
