FERRIDAY — Two suspects —including a 16-year-old — were arrested Wednesday in connection to an April incident involving a 12-year-old being robbed at gunpoint for $10.
Ferriday Interim Police Chief Derrick Freeman said officers responded to a complaint April 28 of a 12-year-old who was robbed at gunpoint at the Concordia Park apartments.
Johnjuan D. Hawkins, 19, and another 16-year-old suspect were arrested Wednesday in connection to the incident.
Hawkins, 807 2nd St., Ferriday, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and contributing to delinquency of a juvenile.
Freeman said since the 16-year-old is being charged as a juvenile his name wouldn’t be released.
Freeman said Hawkins and the 16-year-old allegedly held down the 12-year-old victim, pointed a gun at him and demanded his money.
“They ended up stealing $10 dollars from the juvenile, who called the police and filed a report,” Freeman said. “We had gotten warrants for both of them, but we were just now able to locate them.”
Hawkins was being held Wednesday at the Concordia Parish jail without bond.
Freeman said the other suspect was being transported to a juvenile detention facility in Ascension Parish.
