FERRIDAY — Services for Richard L. Johnson, 62, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his residence will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Reed Baptist Church with the Rev. Justin Conner officiating.

Burial will follow in Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was born March 13, 1952, in Ferriday, the son of Richard Prater and Ruby Johnson.

He was a retired jailer for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother; one son, Sherman Hawkins and wife, Shontelle; one daughter, Keashonda Newbill; two brothers, Harris Johnson and Charles Johnson; three sisters, Patricia Martin, Brenda Johnson and Ella Marie Scott and husband, Eddie Lee, all of Ferriday; 10 grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
