WOODVILLE — Services for Carolyn Ann “Miss Connie” Mills Jones, 66, of Woodville, who died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodville Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the church.
Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Baton Rouge, the daughter of William Morgan Mills and Ethelyn Rutledge Mills.
She graduated from high school in Alexandria and attended Louisiana Tech, where she served as a dorm mother. She went on to Baton Rouge and worked at Baton Rouge General Hospital.
Later, she moved to Grand Junction, Colo., and became a licensed insurance agent. While in Colorado, she raised her two daughters.
She returned to Alexandria, where she cherished being a caregiver to her father until his passing. She then moved to McComb where she was a sales associate at Belks.
She then came to Woodville as a caregiver to Mr. Bob Hartness and worked as a clerk at Treppendahl’s. During this time, she met and married Billy Joe.
Together they found happiness and contentment fulfilling each others’ needs. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Joe Jones; two daughters, Bobbie Lynn Hartness and husband, Robbie, of Spillman, La. and Becky Bunger and husband, Jerry, of Grand Junction; one stepson, Ricky Jones and wife, Sherrie, of Natchez; one stepdaughter, Roxan Smith of Natchez; six grandchildren, William David, Kattie David and Morgan David, all of Grand Junction, Luke, Casey and Randy Hartness, all of Spillman; five step-grandchildren, Will Jones of Natchez, Liz Sanderson and Greg Warrick, both of Wesson, Brian Sanderson and wife, Paige, of Pearl and Katie Sanderson of Ruston; three step-great-grandchilden, Emma and Kensley Sanderson of Pearl and Georgia Warrick of Wesson; one brother, William “Billy” Mills and wife, Becky, of Boyce; and one sister, Katherine Scoggins and husband, Butch, of Bossier City.
Pallbearers will be Luke Hartness, Casey Hartness, Will Jones, Brian Sanderson, Greg Warrick and Thomas Case.
