NATCHEZ — Services for Lisa Lashelle Foster, 46, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at King Solomon Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.05:16 Lisa Foster obitpic

Ms. Foster was born Jan. 31, 1968, in Columbia, the daughter of Henderson Foster and Alice Foster.

She was a 1986 graduate of North Natchez Adams High School.

She furthered her education at Alcorn State University, where she completed a bachelor of science degree in health science and a master’s degree in biology

Ms. Foster taught biology at Alcorn State University. She was an active member of the ASU Faculty Senate. She enjoyed teaching and mentoring her students.

She was a member of the King Solomon Baptist Church.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents, Carl and Theresa Frelix; paternal grandparents, Clarence Foster and Estelle Foster-Jackson.

Survivors include her loving and devoted mother; one brother, Dr. John Foster and wife, Valarie, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one sister, Antoinette Foster of Natchez; two nephews, Jamie and Peter Foster; three nieces, Hope Foster, Maya Foster and Miela Foster; and a number of uncles, aunts and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lisa Foster Biological Science Scholarship. She loved the field of biology. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to those students majoring in biology related fields and attending biology or medical related national conferences.
