FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man is in jail on charges of simple rape with no bond set.
Ferriday Police Department Investigator Dennis Cowan said Franklin Dion Blankenship, 34, who was arrested Jan. 10, asked the alleged victim, who knew Blankenship, if he could borrow some money. The victim agreed to loan Blankenship some money and went over to his house on Dec. 28, Cowan said.
“She went over to his house to give him the money and went in because it was raining, and he attempted to kiss her,” Cowan said. “She resisted, and it went on from there.”
Cowan said Blankenship claims he did not rape the woman.
Cowan said investigators have been working since the incident was reported to connect with the victim, who lives out of town, in order to have her sign an affidavit.
