NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Lois Schulein Abrams, 94, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Natchez and Diamonhead, who died Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Washington, were at 3 p.m. Monday at Natchez City Cemetery.

Burial followed in the cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Abrams was born Oct. 17, 1919, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Benjamin and Jeanete Schulein.

She attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis.

She married Lawrence Abrams of Natchez in 1942, and moved to Natchez after the end of the war.

While a resident of Natchez, she worked with her husband at James J. Cole and Company, a department store owned by Mr. Abrams and his brothers.

In 1965, she earned her teachers license and taught in several Natchez schools, including Montebello School and Sadie Thompson High School. She subsequently moved to Diamonhead where she continued to teach in the Hancock County school system.

Survivors include one son, Lawrence Abrams Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Chappaqua, N.Y.; one daughter, Lynn Berkeley and husband Alan, of Chevy Chase, Md.; five grandchildren, Michael Berkeley, Stephen Berkeley, Jennifer Berkeley, Gavin Abrams and Danielle Abrams; seven great-grandchildren, Brian Berkeley, Benjamin Berkeley, Rebecca Berkeley, Joseph Berkeley, Matthew Berkeley, Max Small and Zachary Small; and one brother, Benjamin Schulein Jr.
