FERRIDAY — Services for Earnest Whitley, 63, of Rosston, Ark., formerly of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Lake St. John with the Rev. Dave Mays officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Whitley was born June 17, 1947, in Ferriday, the son of Alfred and Oneal Mays Whitley. He was employed as a carpenter.
Mr. Whitley served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War from June 13, 1969, to June 19, 1973.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Willie Whitley; and one sister, Nancy Whitley.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Dansby of Rosston; two sons, Felix Morales of Oakland, Calif., and Christopher McElraouy of Vallejo, Calif.; three daughters, Trisha Castonia and husband, Mark, of Ludington, Mich., Veronica McElraouy of Vallejo and Renee Evans of Oakland; four brothers, Alfred Whitley Jr. of Palo Alto, Calif., Joseph Whitley and Billy Whitley and wife, Jackie, all of Ferriday, and Roosevelt Whitley and wife, Tommye, of Atlanta; three sisters, Rosemary Flagg and husband, Mark, of Richmond, Calif., Francis McKeal and husband, Willie Lee, and Thelma Alabi, all of Atlanta; one sister-in-law, Vera Whitley of Ferriday; committed lifelong friend, David McKinney of San Francisco; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
