JONESVILLE — Services for James “Jimmie” Monroe Kirby IV, 79, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Columns Nursing Home, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. James King and the Rev. Randy Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Heard Cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Kirby was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Jonesville, the son of James Monroe Kirby III and Bernice Taylor Kirby.
He was a resident of Ferriday and a life long devoted member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was the sole proprietor of Jimmie’s T.V. Service in Ferriday for 24 years.
He proudly served his country in U.S. Navy as a machinist’s mate 3rd class aboard the USS Wedderburn.
Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Estis Kirby; his parents; one grandson, Nichlous Kirby; one brother, Willie Kirby; and one sister, Flora Mae Bennett.
Survivors include two sons, James “Buddy” Kirby of Harrisonburg and Wade Kirby and wife, Debbie, of Ferriday; one daughter, Cindie Crawford and husband, Jr., of Jonesville; one brother, Albert Kirby and wife, Karen, of Plaquemine; 10 grandchildren, Ashley McEntyre Wilson, Trey McEntyre, Josie Aplin, Bud Kirby, Taylor Kirby, Maggie Kirby, Sam Kirby, Lizzie Kirby, Alannah Kirby Floyd and Victoria Kirby Stowe; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Douglas, Darryl Chaudoin, Luke Wilson, Blair Wilson, Glenn McEntyre and Blayne Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Stowe, Chris Bass, Hill Memorial Baptist Church and Columns Nursing Home.
