ACCS track heads to state meet

CLINTON, La. — Several members of Adams County Christian School’s boys and girls track team will represent the Rebels at the MAIS Class AA state championship next week.
The boys finished second place overall, while the girls finished third at the South State meet at Silliman Institute Saturday.
Though the team won by a collection of points gathered from each event, only those who placed first through fourth in their respective events will move on to Jackson Prep Academy for the state meet.
For the girls’ field events, Anna McDaniel finished in third place in the high jump, Skylar Adams was third place in the long jump, and Ashleigh Williams was second in both the discus and shot put.
For girls track events, Tory Rollins was fourth place in 1600-meter dash, Sarah Clancy placed first in the 3200-meter dash, second place in the 1600-meter dash and second place in the 800-meter dash.
Girls track coach Dee Ray said she was proud of her young team’s effort, and Clancy for showing leadership as an upper classman.
“I think Clancy really stepped up and did wonderful and qualified in everything she ran,” Ray said.
For the boys, Tyler Stockstill won the 110-meter hurdles, Trey Fleming was first place in 300-meter hurdles and the relay team won second in the 4 x 100-meter, 4 x 200-meter and 4 x 400-meter races.
The relay team consists of Lester Wells, Trey Fleming, Sam Butler and Chisum Mardis.
The field events at the state meet begins Wednesday while the track events will start Saturday.
