FERRIDAY — Services for J.L. Emfinger, 90, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Mack Walker and the Rev. Elbert Sanson officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Emfinger was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Franklin County. He was a farmer and a fence contractor.
Mr. Emfinger was a member of Dunbarton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elmer Emfinger, Roddie Emfinger, Blueford Emfinger and Edgar Emfinger; one sister, Audrie Randle; and one grandson, Paige Emfinger.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Venie Emfinger; one son, Jerry Emfinger of Ferriday; one daughter, Charlotte Bell and husband, Tom, of Lake St. John; one sister, Claudie Tullos of Ferriday; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Adrian Walker, Bobby Cowan, Carmon Walker, Jeff Cowan, Michael Potts and Zane Emfinger.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Dunbarton Baptist Church.
