NATCHEZ — Severe storms are forecast for the Miss-Lou tonight through Monday evening and could produce possible tornadoes, damaging winds and quarter-sized hail.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of Mississippi and Louisiana stating thunderstorms are expected to move into the area during the early morning hours Monday.

The combination of instability and wind shear is expected to support severe weather with damaging wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph, according to the NWS. Tornadoes and quarter-sized hail are also possible.

The NWS also issued a flash flood watch stating heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches could cause flooding Monday in Adams County and Concordia Parish.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency stated in a press release the first round of storms is expected to move through the state from midnight tonight through 8 a.m. Monday.

A second round of storms will move through the state from noon to 9 p.m. Monday.
