TYLERTOWN — Services for Henry G. Thompson Jr., 88, who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Golden Living Center-Tylertown, will be at 2 p.m. today at Capps Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Perry officiating.

Burial will follow at the Tylertown Cemetery under the direction of Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Forrest Home, Ala., the son of Henry Grady Sr. and Estelle Smith Thompson. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where he served as deacon emeritus. He was also a retired rural mail carrier and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Autherine Thompson Newton who died the previous week in Greenville, Ala.

Survivors include his wife, Edwina Mae Davis Thompson; one son, Eddie Thompson and wife, Rose, of Natchez; one daughter, Jan Vince and husband, Kim, of Sandy Hook; four grandchildren, Kristin Vince Singletary and husband, Chris of Columbia, Bo Vince of Sandy Hook, Shannon Thompson Goodwin and husband, Thomas, of Birmingham, Ala., and Drew Thompson of Natchez; four great-grandchildren, Owen and Collin Singletary of Columbia and Noah and Rose Goodwin of Birmingham; one sister, Mary Neil Tucker Davis of Fort Deposit, Ala.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Kim Vince, Bo Vince, Drew Thompson, Scott Bond and Charles Newton.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of New Zion Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class and Robert Earl Vince.
