NATCHEZ — A Vicksburg man was killed in an accident in the Natchez-Adams County Port area Friday while making an industrial delivery.
Gordon Annis, of Vicksburg, was delivering a piece of construction equipment to Enersteel at approximately 4 p.m. Friday when the unloading equipment he was using apparently malfunctioned and started a chain of events that significantly injured Annis.
Adams County Coroner James Lee said Annis was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center but later died.
“I plan to do the autopsy, because this was an on-the-job accident,” Lee said. “We are not exactly certain what happened, and we are in the process of investigating the circumstances now.”
Enersteel Operations Manager Aaron Shermer said no Enersteel employees were involved in the accident.
“We are unclear on the events that led up to the accident, but the investigation is ongoing and this event is surely a tragedy,” Shermer said.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Annis.”
