NATCHEZ — Porter’s Chapel Academy scored four runs to lead off the game, but Adams County Christian School responded in a big way as the Rebels rallied to defeat the Eagles 11-6 on senior night Thursday afternoon.
ACCS scored one run each in the bottom of the first and second innings with Porter’s Chapel scoring one run in the top of the second to make it a 5-2 game. Then the Rebels took the lead for good thanks to a four-run rally in the bottom of the third inning for a 6-5 lead, and they plated four more runs just an inning later for a 10-5 advantage.
Brandon Ross settled down after that rough first inning and that allowed ACCS to get back in the game. He gave up five runs and struck out seven in four innings to get the win. Wade Simpson was credited with the save after he held Porter’s Chapel to just one run and struck out four in three innings.
Justin Allgood went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs batted in, Bradley Jones was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, and Ross had two doubles to lead the Rebels’ nine-hit attack.
It was also the season finale for ACCS, which finished with a 5-8 overall record.
LaSalle 8, Block 2
JONESVILLE — Josh Boyette held Block to just four hits and struck out seven in a complete-game outing as the LaSalle Tigers used a pair of four-run innings to defeat the Bears 8-2 Thursday afternoon in LHSAA District 3-1A action.
Block took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning before LaSalle struck for four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead for good. The Tigers then plated four runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.
Taylor Perron-Krause limited LaSalle to just one hit and struck out six batters over six and one-third innings, but he also walked six and the defense committed five errors. Of the six runs he allowed, just one was earned. Trent Coldiron and Lynderrick Woods each went 2-for-3 to lead the Bears at the plate.
Block (7-10, 2-3) hosts St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. Monday. The game at Carroll High School that was to take place today was postponed until April 25.
Monterey 10, Avoyelles Public Charter 0
MONTEREY — The Monterey Wolves needed just six innings to defeat the Avoyelles Public Charter Vikings 10-0 Thursday afternoon in an LHSAA District 6-B game. No other information on the game was available.
Monterey (15-3, 2-0) plays again at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Christian.
