NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Kenneth Jordan Sr., 66, of Natchez, who died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Natchez with the Rev. Doug Broome officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Jordan was born Aug. 20, 1947, in Natchez, the son of Charles F. Jordan and Edith Porter Jordan.

He was a graduate of Natchez High School.

Mr. Jordan began his career at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company. He then went on to start a gravel truck business. He also worked as a salesman for White Chemical Company selling oil field chemicals.

In 1986, Mr. Jordan and his son, Charles, started Geo Chem. an oil field chemical blending company.

Later, in July 1992, he bought one old, used truck. This one truck was the beginning of Jordan Carriers Inc. that today employs 442 people with six offices throughout the United State. He expanded Jordan Carriers with the addition of Jordan Logistics and most recently Jordan Heavy Haul.

Mr. Jordan believed that if you were going to do a job you must do it right, be trustworthy and treat people with respect.

He gave God credit for his success and was not shy to tell others. He acknowledged that God had blessed him and believed he was entrusted with what he had been given in order to be a good steward.

He believed in hard work, but his life ultimately revolved around his family, especially his sons. They were is right hand, his best friends and his heart.

He was also an avid car collector. At an early age, he loved a fast car and enjoyed giving friends a thrill with speed. His collection included a 1940 Ford coupe that runs a 9.70 in a quarter, a fully restored 1940 Ford truck and a 1955 Chevrolet Corvette.

One of his other hobbies was cycling. He spent many miles riding with friends and the Natchez Bicycle Club. A few of his cycling trips included Nashville to Natchez along the Natchez Trace, the Blue Ridge Parkway and a tour through Vietnam.

Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sylvia Gayle Jordan.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Jones Jordan; three sons, Charles Jordan Jr. and wife, Lyda, of Natchez, Keith Jordan and wife, Page, of San Antonio, Doug Jordan and wife, Kristin, of Natchez; one stepson, Ryan McKinney and wife, Genevieve, of Franklin, Tenn.; one step daughter, Paige Normand and husband, Paul, of Hammond, La.; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth Jordan III, Margaret Jordan and Bankston Jordan, all of Natchez, Victoria Jordan and Mary Elizabeth Jordan, of Baton Rouge, Owen Jordan, Anna Leigh Jordan and Adalyn Kate Jordan, all of Natchez, Bennett McKinney and Jennings McKinney, of Franklin, and Graham Normand of Hammond; one sister, Brenda Jordan Bath of Natchez; one aunt, Jeannie Porter Cotton and husband, Bob, of Natchez; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Jordan III, Bankston Jordan, Tommy Graves, Stephen Karabellen, Micah Morrison, Jay Massey and Jake Woods.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Freeman and Don Cruise.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Natchez’s preschool or youth departments.
