CENTREVILLE — Services for Edna Thomas Lobrano, 98, of Centreville, who died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Centreville Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Johnsey officiating.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.

Mrs. Lobrano was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Newport (Cocke County), Tenn., the “Gateway to the Smokies.”) She was the daughter of Asbury and Florence Reneau Thomas and had one sibling, a brother, Glen Holland Thomas. Her family moved to Fort Adams when she was a child. After attending a “one room” elementary schoolhouse in Fort Adams, she later attended boarding school in Woodville and concluded her education at MSCW at Columbus. She married Edward Posey “Britt” Lobrano May 13, 1939, and they lived in Centreville until their respective deaths.

Mrs. Lobrano was employed as a bookkeeper for more than 50 years, working well into her 70s. She was an avid reader, interested in a number of subjects. She loved pampering her pets, and she loved to fish. She was a lifelong, and was the oldest, member of Centreville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and her husband.

Survivors include three children, Edward P. Lobrano Jr., a retired attorney, of Brandon, Jacqueline L. Gordon, a retired medical technologist, of Meridian, and Dr. Thomas E. Lobrano, a dentist, of Centreville; seven grandchildren, Edward P. “Trip” Lobrano III of O’Fallon, Mo., Suzanne L. Lindsey of Smithdale, Dr. Valerie Gordon-Garofalo of New Orleans, Dr. Melissa G. Pringle of Madison, Dr. Kenneth E. Gordon of Abbeville, Tara L. Hayes of Baton Rouge and Thomas Emile Lobrano Jr. of Oxford; and 14 great-grandchildren.
