FERRIDAY — Services for John R. Alexander, 83, of Clayton, who died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, in Cash Bayou, La., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Bemont and Nicholas Adams officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Alexander was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Tallulah, La., the son of Danny and Victoria Alexander. He was employed by International Paper Company for 36 years and was a superintendent.
Mr. Alexander was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Foules, La., and served as a deacon. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper.
Mr. Alexander loved his God, his family and playing golf.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Alexander Money; his parents; three brothers, Nolan Alexander, Daniel Alexander and Cecil Alexander; and three sisters, Inez Givens, Zelma McDonald and Allie Gordy.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anita Alexander; three daughters, Wanda Faye Ford, Penny Sue Torrey, both of Shreveport, La., and Tracy Johnette Hagar and husband, Steven, of Haughton, La.; one son, Johnny Alexander of Shreveport; one son-in-law, Donald Money of Clayton; and one brother, Billy Alexander of Walker, La.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brad Ford, Todd Ford, D.J. Torrey, Jamie Ferrington, Jason Money and son-in-law, Steven Hager.
