NATCHEZ — A Natchez resident who had been missing since Friday was discovered dead in his pickup truck Monday night.
Adams County officials believe the resident drove down an embankment of Foster Mound Road and crashed into a creek.
Jerry Cupit, 64, of Natchez, was found at 10:15 p.m. Monday in his 2008 Nissan pickup truck, which had traveled down a 40-foot embankment before hitting a creek, Adams County Coroner James Lee said.
Lee said Cupit had been missing since Friday and that someone spotted his truck Monday and called law enforcement officials.
Lee said Cupit sustained severe head injuries because of the collision and was pronounced dead on the scene.
“He was traveling by himself, and it appears to be an accident,” Lee said. “I don’t suspect anything at this time, but it’s always protocol we do toxicology reports.”
Toxicology reports, Lee said, will take several weeks to get back and would show if any medical conditions led to Cupit driving off the embankment.
