NATCHEZ — An overwhelming response from community members has resulted in the change of location for a garage sale fundraiser planned to benefit the families of two Natchez natives involved in a two-vehicle collision earlier this month.

Nikki Worthey was severely injured in the wreck that claimed the life of Tyler Brumfield, Worthey’s boyfriend and the driver of the vehicle Worthey was in.

Worthey was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., shortly after the wreck and has remained under treatment in the intensive care unit.

Family members posted an online update on Worthey’s condition Monday saying Worthey had been moved to a step-down unit where a caretaker will stay with her at all times.  Worthey has started rehabilitation therapy in Alexandria until a bed opens up at a regional rehab hospital.

A garage sale is being organized to benefit the families of Worthey and Brumfield. The sale was originally planned during the annual Jefferson Street United Methodist Church community-wide sale.

The sale has been moved to 203 John Glenn Ave., starting at 7 a.m. April 5.
