VIDALIA — Services for Darrell Welch, 67, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, in Vidalia, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Vidalia with the Rev. Bill McCullin officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Welch was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Fisk, Mo., the son of Lynn and Pansy Welch.
Mr. Welch was a man who enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. All of his working life was spent farming, from agriculture to aquaculture to buying and selling property. He was the president of the Board of Directors for Concordia Electric Co-op for a number of years. He loved to spend time with his family and was looking forward to watching his granddaughter, Taylor, play basketball this season.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Wayne Welch.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Welch Hoover of Jackson; two sons, Tim Welch and wife, Belinda, and Derek Welch and wife, KC, all of Vidalia; the mother of his children, Barbara Breithaupt of Vidalia; one grandson, Justin Welch; one granddaughter, Taylor Welch; four brothers, Lynn Welch Jr. and wife, Mary, Lonnie Welch and wife, Carol, Mearl Welch and wife, Pat, and Danny Welch and wife, Edna; one sister, Patsy Garner and husband, Ronnie; and two special friends, Norman Standifer and Robbin Meyers.
Pallbearers will be Justin Welch, Jerod Welch, Dale Welch, Steve Welch, Todd Garner and Tabb Garner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Harris and the board of directors and employees of Concordia Electric.
